Overview
We're a small, independently owned shop that curates pieces from independent designers. We want you to feel confident in what you buy, so we accept online returns under the conditions below. The conditions are strict on purpose — they keep things fair for you, for the brands we carry, and for us.
If anything is unclear, email returns@lilsto.online before you order or before you return.
In-store purchases
All in-store sales are final. We don't accept returns, exchanges, or refunds on items purchased in-person, including for change of mind, sizing, or fit. Try things on before you buy. Damaged, defective, or wrong-item issues are still handled under the Damaged or defective items section below.
Online purchases
Return window
You have 7 calendar days from the delivery date (per carrier confirmation) to initiate a return. Returns initiated after the window are not accepted.
Eligible for return
To be eligible, items must be:
- Unworn and unwashed
- Free of stains, odors (perfume, smoke, etc.), pet hair, alterations
- With all original tags and hygiene seals attached if the item was sold with them (some pieces may ship without tags)
- In original packaging, including original boxes for footwear (do not use the shoe box as the shipping container)
- Accompanied by proof of purchase (order confirmation email)
Final sale — not eligible for return or exchange
The following are always final sale:
- Any item purchased on sale, marked-down, or with a discount code (other than free shipping)
- Items marked "final sale" at checkout
- Made-to-order, hand-dyed, or customized items
- Limited edition drops, collaborations, and special releases when marked at checkout
- Worn, washed, altered, or visibly used items
- Items returned outside the 7-day window
- Items returned with original tags removed or detached (where the item was sold with tags attached)
If we ever carry the following categories, they will also be final sale on hygiene and resale grounds: beauty and fragrance, swimwear, undergarments, fine jewelry, food and consumables.
How to return
- Email returns@lilsto.online within 7 days of delivery. Include your order number, the item(s) you want to return, and the reason.
- We'll reply with return instructions and the return address.
- Pack the item securely with all original tags and packaging.
- Either:
- Ship it back at your own cost with a tracked, insured service. We're not responsible for lost or damaged returns in transit.
- Drop it off in person at our store (50 Massachusetts Ave NE, Washington DC — inside Union Station, Mezzanine, East Wing) during open hours: Wed–Sat 1pm–7pm, Sun 1pm–5pm. Bring your order confirmation email. Email us first so we can have someone available to inspect and log the return.
- Once we receive it, we'll inspect within 5 business days and notify you of the outcome.
Refunds
Approved returns are refunded to the original payment method within 5–10 business days of inspection. Original shipping costs are non-refundable.
Exchanges
We don't process formal exchanges. To swap sizes, colors, or styles, return the original item for a refund and place a new order for the replacement. This keeps our inventory and order records clean and gives you a fresh order to track.
If you're worried the size or color you want will sell out before your return is processed, email returns@lilsto.online when you initiate the return. We may be able to hold the replacement for up to 48 hours pending receipt of your return, at our discretion.
Inspection and the worn-item rule
Every return is inspected on receipt. We won't accept returns for items that have been worn or have had tags removed. If we determine an item has been worn — signs include body odor, perfume, makeup or deodorant marks, removed tags (for items sold with tags attached), visible wear at hems, cuffs, soles, or collars, washing, alteration, or evidence of having been worn at an event — the return is rejected. Items sold without original tags are inspected against the other signals above — we hold those returns to the same standard, we just can't use tag presence as the test. No refund, no exchange, no store credit.
If a return is rejected, we'll email you within 5 business days of inspection. You have 14 calendar days from that email to either:
- Pay the cost of return shipping to have the item sent back to you (we'll send a shipping invoice), or
- Pick it up in person at the store with your order confirmation email.
If we don't hear from you within 14 days, the item may be donated or disposed of at our discretion.
Damaged, defective, or wrong items
If your order arrives damaged, defective, or we shipped the wrong item:
- Contact support@lilsto.online within 48 hours of delivery. (Damage and defect claims go to the general inbox so they're routed appropriately; don't use returns@ for these.)
- Include your order number and clear photos of the issue.
- We'll resolve it under applicable law — replacement, store credit, or refund as appropriate.
This applies to both in-store and online purchases.
International orders
International orders may be subject to import duties, taxes, and customs fees, which are the customer's responsibility unless stated otherwise at checkout. Return shipping for international orders is the customer's responsibility, including any duties paid on the original shipment. We don't refund original shipping or duty costs.
Right to refuse
We reserve the right to refuse returns that don't meet the conditions above, that appear fraudulent, or that show a pattern of return abuse — subject to applicable law.
